The onboarding process is compatible with multiple Android profiles, including BYOD, COPE, and fully-managed environments, offering broad coverage and flexibility across different organizational needs.
Set up is straightforward
As an Admin:
Push the Defender for Endpoint app to the target user group.
Push a VPN profile to the user’s device.
In Apps > Application configuration policies, select Managed Devices.
Name the policy, choose Android Enterprise as the platform, select the appropriate profile type, and target the Microsoft Defender: Antivirus app.
Add runtime permissions, including Location access (fine) (not supported for Android 13+), POST_NOTIFICATIONS, and set them to Auto grant.
As a User:
Download the Company Portal app and set up your work profile with your credentials.
Follow prompts in the Company Portal to onboard the Defender for Endpoint app.
Open the Defender for Endpoint app, which will sign you in automatically and direct you to a permissions screen. Grant the necessary permissions to complete onboarding.
